Constructed by Phuleswari Devi, the queen of Ahom king Siba Singha (CE 1714-44), the temple was dedicated to Siva. The temple is built in brick masonry and comprised of garbhagriha and mukhamandapa. The floor level of the garbhagriha lies at low level in comparison to the mandapa. The sikhara of the temple is domical with several vertical ridges adorned by angasikharas. It stands in the middle of the group of three temples on the northern bank of the Gaurisagar tank. The temple is enclosed by an enclosure wall.
